Lilleshall Hall, now known as Lilleshall House & Gardens, sits on Pave Lane just outside Newport in Shropshire, a short drive from our base in Telford. It is a 19th-century country house that was once a home and hunting lodge of the Duke of Sutherland, and its formal gardens are Grade II* listed.
About Lilleshall Hall as a wedding venue
The venue is licensed for civil ceremonies and also hosts humanist and celebrant weddings and elopements, with outdoor ceremonies possible in the gardens. Receptions can be held in the orangery or a marquee on the grounds, and there are bedrooms in the main house, including a honeymoon suite. The gardens include the Apple Walk and a long herbaceous border looking back towards the house.
Photo and film ideas at Lilleshall Hall
Formal gardens like these reward a little planning. The house front gives a classic setting for family groups, the Apple Walk and herbaceous border suit relaxed couple portraits, and the orangery works well for detail shots and speeches if the weather turns. On a summer wedding we'd usually plan your portraits for the softer light after the wedding breakfast, when the gardens are quieter and guests are settling into the evening.
